The Ignite International Board of Directors is a body of men and women whose passion to impact the world and talent to advance our mission provide firm resolve in our foundation of leadership.

The Ignite International Board of Directors serves to:
  • Hold the organization accountable to the core values and mission we represent
  • Hold the organization accountable in all aspects of operation/fiduciary responsibility
  • Help establish and implement policy, procedures and strategy for the organization
  • Further the cause of the organization by being actively engaged in helping to position the organization in circles of influence for exposure, growth and creative resource streams by which the mission will be accomplished
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand and promote the organization's mission
  • Be informed about the organization's mission, programs, policies, and operations
  • Assist the board in carrying out judiciary responsibilities, such as reviewing the organization's annual financial statements
  • Actively serve on at least one committee and offer to take on special assignments
  • Attend board meetings and appropriate committee meetings
  • Review agenda and supporting documents prior to board and committee meetings
  • Participate in fund raising activities and special events
  • Make an annual contribution to the organization commensurate with ability
  • Inform others about the organization
  • Offer suggestions of possible nominees to the board who can make significant contributions to the work of the board and the organization
  • Keep current on developments in program areas and the organization's field
  • Strictly adhere to conflict of interest policies
  • Strictly adhere to confidentiality policies
  • Refrain from making special requests of the staff
  • Pray regularly for the organization

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS DESIRED:

  • Ability to: listen, analyze, think clearly and creatively, work well with people individually or in a group
  • Willingness to: prepare for and attend board and committee meetings, ask questions, take responsibility and follow through on a given assignment, contribute personal and financial resources in a generous way according to circumstances, open doors in the community, continually evaluate your performance and contribution
  • Utilize your skills to benefit the organization, such as to: cultivate and solicit funds, cultivate and recruit board members and other volunteers, read and understand financial statements, learn more about the substantive program area(s) of the organization
  • Possess: honesty, sensitivity to and appreciation of differing views, a friendly, responsive, and patient approach, community-building skills, personal integrity, a developed sense of values, concern for Ignite International's development, a sense of humor.
